Fun Stuff and Allergies

 Lindsey and I took the little kids to the splash zone at the aquatic center.

 They had a lot of fun on the swing and slide!

 Last Saturday we went to Day of the Young Child in Zeeland.

 The kids got bags with lots of treasures and got to see a bunch of vehicles and pet animals from the critter barn.

 The next day, Stella really wanted to wear her crown to church.

 Stella had a preschool field trip to Teusinks Farm on Thursday and Jer took her out for a doughnut first.

 It was miserably cold and rainy, so they did almost everything inside the barns.

 Meanwhile Henry and I were back at the allergy office.  This time for Henry's peanut challenge.  We started the morning with a scratch test on his arm: histamine, saline, peanut, and fresh peanut butter.

 He passed that, so then he had a small amount of peanut butter on a q-tip that he had to keep in his cheek for 10 minutes.

 Then he ate a teaspoon of peanut butter (wait 20 minutes for a reaction) then ate 2 teaspoons (wait 20-30 minutes for a reaction) and then he ate a tablespoon of peanut butter (wait 30 more minutes for a reaction).  He passed them all!  And was a trooper through it all, he didn't even flinch when she did the scratch test.  After about 3 hours in our room he was issued a Peanut certificate, which he proceeded to dance with and refused to pose with nicely.

 He can now eat peanuts!  What a relief to have grown out of it!  We were also able to schedule a baked milk and baked egg food challenge for June!  It is exciting to be leaving at least some of this chapter behind.  We went a little peanut crazy at home, buying multiple jars as well as cereal, granola bars, and other items that contain peanuts for everyone else at our house.  I made scotcheroos for everyone - a milk free version for Henry and regular ones for the rest of us and we had pb&j toast, apples with peanut butter, and scotcheroos for a celebration supper.  :)

 Allergy testing really is hard work, it knocked Henry out too.

 Today we went to Community Day at Dutch Village with friends.  Leila stayed overnight with Nana so she missed most of it and did not make it into the pictures.
