Play Day

This is the cradle that my dad made for me for my second birthday. Leila is sitting in it with her baby Rosie doll, she named her after the little sister on Caillou. Now we don't have to name her little sister Rosie :)
Leila and Paige have been playing well together today.
Although their moods change from one instant to the next...sad to
HAPPY!

Turning a Corner

It is official...we are a minivan family. The dealership waxed her up nicely - she already got dirty when we went out today, so I am glad that I took the picture first! I am loving the automatic sliding doors. In some ways it is bigger than the old car, but it takes up about the same amount of room in the garage.
This is the puzzle we were working on when I asked Leila what the seal was balancing on his nose. She said, "Booger."
Here is the end of a record 4 hour nap and she did not even wake up when I took the picture...I think she was in the middle of a growth spurt or something. She loves to sleep with her blankets over her face.
Here we are feeling baby sister kicking. She loves to talk about baby sister and I am sure she has no idea what it all means, but she is excited anyway! :)

Blocks, Pigtails, Reading, and Counting

Leila loves her Duplo blocks, she likes to build towers and is getting pretty good at it. She mostly likes to build straight up, but will improvise if we start her with a base.
This is the first time I did full pigtails, her hair is getting pretty long. She still loves reading and this is one of her new favorites, Henry's Awful Mistake. She will say some of the words on pages that she knows of this book and others...like in But No Elephants as soon as I turn one of the pages, she says "terrible crash" over and over in an imitation my overly excited voice.
Here Leila is putting her snack of cereal in the bowl in the toy and Molly waiting for her to drop some or walk away so she can get a few pieces.
Here I had her sitting on the couch trying to get a shot of the pigtails and after about 6 shots of her not looking at me and not smiling she finally turned, leaned forward, and smiled. :)

She has started to count. She has gotten up to four, but now usually says one, two, one. She is also giving herself time outs for some reason. Since I usually count to ten when she is in time out, she will say "Time out, one, two" and then repeat until I tell her she is not really in time out.

Snowed In!

This is right after our attempt to go to work. We managed to drive about one house over before getting stuck. Since we had quite a ways farther to go in the forward direction than the reverse, we worked at getting the car back into our driveway. I think we may have lost a good 1/4" off the tire tread, but we managed to pull back into the driveway.
As you can see by the height of the side of the driveway, we got a whole lotta snow last night!
I like using Leila as a gauge for how tall the snow pile is.
She thought it was pretty fun too.
