Every summer I try to do a post about the kids. Here is a link to last year's post.
This year, I asked Jeremy to take a stab at it.
Leila is 17, and it is almost time to start applying to colleges. She will be a senior in the fall. Crazy! She continues to be involved with theater and has added National Honor Society. She continues to work at Russ’ and has added some hours at Captain Sundae on 40th as well. A couple of noteworthy things that happened this year were her first blood donation with Dad after her 17th birthday. All went well until she was at the recovery table and passed out :) Thankfully, she was fine. Then, after a shift at Russ’ she closed the car door on her finger and required stitches. Again, thankfully, it was not worse.
Stella is 15 and getting ready for her sophomore year. She is continuing to work at Dutch Village and is preparing for her AP US History class in the fall. She played tennis again this spring and is active with her group of friends. It is fun to watch her play. A noteworthy event was when she played singles at Holland High, and twisted her ankle, and fell. She had to leave the match and missed a few more due to the swollen ankle and her driver’s ed schedule. She completed phase 1 of driver’s Ed and is starting to build her hours driving with us. Again, crazy!
Henry is 13 and getting ready for 8th grade. This will be our final year of having a middle schooler! Henry was active with soccer in the fall, indoor soccer in the winter, and track in the spring. It is fun to watch him compete! He continues to be ready to help around the house whenever we ask. A noteworthy event that Henry and Dad had was when we were on our summer road trip, and they went out on a fishing boat in Maine. Henry caught 19 fish! Henry is continuing with Xolair and allergy shots, and we pray that these medicines will help him to outgrow his allergies and to not need to carry an EpiPen.
We are thankful to God for blessing us with these kids. We are proud of the young people who each of them are becoming. We pray that God will continue to bless and guide them on their paths!
