Disney Trip!

Jeremy was kind enough to keep track of our days for me again this time:

Friday 12/27/19 Travel/Pool Day
It was an EARLY day today.  We got up at 3 am to head to the GR airport.  It was quite busy.  Even at 4:30ish there was quite a long line to get through security.  Thankfully we got through fairly quickly and went to our gate to board the plane.  We flew to Orlando/Sanford instead of the main Orlando airport like the previous 2 trips.  Lindsey had arranged transportation for us and we took a fancy Mercedes van to a grocery store to pick up some things and then on to Saratoga Springs where we had stayed in 2017.  It was fairly warm but there was off and on rain.  Our room wasn’t ready until afternoon and it was quite early in the morning yet.  Thankfully the bell hops could store our luggage and keep our groceries cold.  We walked to Disney Spring to have lunch at…you guessed it…Wolfgang Puck's.  Our traditional first meal restaurant.  Papa joined us too.  Next we changed into our swim suits and headed to the pool until our rooms were ready.  Around 4:30 we got to our room and unpacked.  We walked back to Disney Springs with Papa and walked and walked and walked.  Finally we decided on a light supper at Aristo-Crepes.  It was still raining off and on.  We put the kids to bed shortly after 7pm because we were all TIRED, but we were happy to be back at Disney.

 Stella loved eating Henry's peas.

They had lots of fun games for the kids at the main pool.

Leila, Papa, and Abby went back to check out the Chrismas trees.

Saturday 12/28/19 Magic Kingdom
Another exhausting day!  We got up around 5:45 and got ready/ate breakfast at the room.  We didn’t sleep super well as a lot of us had coughs/colds.  Especially Mom.  She kept us up with her snoring.  We missed the 7am bus to Magic Kingdom so instead we took the next bus to Epcot and got on the Monorail.  We took it to the transportation & ticketing center and on to Magic Kingdom.  Finally we arrived.  Mom and the kids went straight to the 7 Dwarfs Mine Train while Dad got some Starbucks (his favorite ride).  It was still raining off & on but not enough that we had to leave.  We did Winnie the Pooh, and It’s a Small World.  Then we had a snack and did the Little Mermaid and Tom Sawyer’s Island.  We had lunch at Pecos Bill's and the kids did not like anything there.  We had a fast pass for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad after lunch, but it was broken down so we used it for Splash Mountain instead.  It took a LOT of convincing to get Leila to go on this ride.  Dad and Stella were in the front and we got soaked to our underwear for the rest of the day!  We did the magical Tiki room next (a fake bird show) that was not super exciting.  Then we did Haunted Mansion and then Carousel of Progress.  Then we had some pretzels and slushies for snacks.  We went to the Laugh Floor and Stella got to be on the big screen.  It said “Wanted a puppy for Christmas, but got socks instead”.  Then we did 7 Dwarfs again and had supper at Pinocchio’s.  They had nice GF nuggets for Henry. We headed out from there and there was a parade on Main Street that we watched for a minute before making our way out.  Our feet were wet and tired.  We went back to Saratoga and Dad & Leila went to Artist’s Palette for some supplies.

The kids had researched with a lot of videos prior to going to Disney, and this was one thing they did not want to miss - if you are at kid height, it looks like Cinderella is wearing a crown.
Jer split off from us to get coffee, we went to Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.

We had go on It's a Small World.

It is kind of creepy, but with our magic bands, they knew who was on the ride.

We made everyone go on Splash Mountain, I didn't think we would get too wet.  I was wrong.
And the kids were not happy.

 Haunted Mansion

Another thing that the kids had researched - they needed to write their wishes in this book in Pinocchio's Tavern.

Their wishes: "To have fun every day. To have a fun rest of Disney. I wish that my family can come to Disney again in a few years."

Sunday 12/29/19 Hollywood Studios
We slept in until about 6:15!!  We again had breakfast at our room and headed to the bus stop with the Lindsey's family.  We went to Hollywood Studios.  It was still a little off and on rain.  We did the new ride – Slinky Dog Dash.  It was about an hour’s wait but everyone seemed to like it a lot (except Jer).  We said goodbye to them and met up with Kari, her girls, and Papa.  We met Santa Goofy, and then went to Beauty and the Beast live.  Then we went to ABC Commissary for lunch.  After lunch we went on Toy Story Mania.  After that Henry and Jeremy hung out and watched a Star Wars show, while the girls and Papa went to Frozen Sing along.  Next we went back to the room to take a little rest.  Then we went back to Disney Springs to Frontera Cocina with everyone for supper.  Then Dad and the kids went to Goofy’s Candy Co. to get some candy and desserts.  Mom, her sisters and Papa went back to the parks.

Kid free - back to the parks with papa to ride roller coasters.

Monday 12/29/19 Pool Day
The kids were up by 6am when they were supposed to be sleeping in.  Dad went for a run and Mom was trying to sleep in from her long night last night. We left at 8am to get on a bus to Magic Kingdom, and then took the Monorail to the Polynesian Resort for breakfast with papa at Kona, where we had gone every time.  Henry and Stella got souvenirs and we met Pluto.  Next we went to the Paddock pool and hung out until 4pm.  There were a few sprinkles and clouds, but later on we had some sun.  The rest of the family had a dinner reservation, so we went on our own to the Polite Pig.  It wasn’t as good as we remembered.  We found a bakery that had things that Henry COULD HAVE!!!!  We got him a cupcake and some cookies. We’re definitely going back there.

Mom had the famous Tonga Toast again.

 Henry lost his first tooth!
Henry discovered the way to make your swim shirt puff out in the hot tub, hilarity ensued.

Tuesday 12/31/19 Epcot
It was another marathon of a day. We got up before 6am and left our room before 7am. Henry and dad left separately a little bit later. It was an Epcot day but we started at Hollywood Studios. Stella, Leila, and mom wanted to ride Rock N Rollercoaster. When Dad and Henry arrived we went to the Slinky Dog Dash line. Mom and the girls were there and with Kari, Lindsey, and their girls because RNR was not running.  We all did SDD and then everyone but Dad and Henry went to RNR. Dad and Henry stopped for a coffee and bathroom then we took the skyliner to Epcot. We headed for Mission Space first. We took the green less intense mission.  It was cool. Then we went to Living with the Land. After that we met back up with mom, the girls, and papa. We did Spaceship Earth inside the Epcot ball. From there, the six of us headed to Via Napoli in “Italy” for lunch.  The girls had ravioli, the adults had pizza, and Henry got a specially made GF pasta with sauce and chicken. Unfortunately, he shut down and refused to eat any of it.  He laid down and finally Mom bribed him with nuggets from a quick service restaurant.  He had his 2 bites of chicken pasta and we walked back to the other side of the park so Mom could order his food.  We waited for him to eat it and then the 6 of us went to Soarin’.  This was Dad’s first time ever doing Soarin’ and he liked it!  Then we did Journey into Imagination.  Papa left to check out more of Epcot and then the Star Wars ride back at Hollywood Studios.  We walked back to the Skyliner and took it back to HS.  Then we waited for our bus and finally made it back to Saratoga Springs.  We ate supper at Artist’s Palette and went back to the room.  We all settled down for the night, except Mom and Leila, they decided to go back to a park since it was New Year’s Eve.  I think they made it back before the New Year started.

Another feature the kids had researched - they needed to go into the phone booth.

Skyliner - one of the kids' favorite rides!

 Henry fell asleep again.
Leila and mom back at Epcot.

We found some free hats :)  It took us forever to get back around the world to go to the Skyliner to go home.  There were SO MANY PEOPLE!!

Wednesday 1/1/20 Pool Day
Today Dad got up at 6am for a 7 mile run.  It isn’t easy to get 7 miles in on the resort sidewalks.  Henry and Stella woke up around 6:30am to watch TV.  Leila and Mom slept in until after 8:30am!  We all (all 15) got ready and took a bus to MK.  Then we got on the Monorail to go to the Contemporary resort and Chef Mickey’s for breakfast.  We all ate too much but had fun seeing the characters.  Mom and Dad walked back to MK while everyone else took the Monorail.  The Monorail took a lot longer and Mom and Dad waited a long time for everyone to get back to MK.  Then we took the bus back to our resort.  Dad took a short nap because he had a headache.  Everyone else went to the pool.  Dad joined soon and we all relaxed at the pool.  Papa and the kids decided to have ham buns at the room for supper, so Papa watched the kids while Mom and Dad went to Disney Springs for supper.  It was crazy busy.  Mom got Wetzel’s Pretzels and Dad got some tacos from a food truck.  We also stopped back at the bakery for more treats for Henry.  Because it was so busy, we went back to our room pretty quickly.  Dad and Leila went to the Artist’s Palette store to look for souvenirs.

Thursday 1/2/20 Animal Kingdom
We slept in a little until about 6:30-6:45am. Papa had left already with the rest of our group, but we took our time. We ate breakfast at the room and took the bus to Animal Kingdom. We started at Expedition Everest and then we watched Finding Nemo the musical. It was cool. Then we had a quick little lunch of muffins and pretzels. We met everyone at Avatar Flight of Passage for our fast pass. Then we walked to see Festival of the Lion King, but due to technical difficulties, the show was cancelled.  Some of us used the replacement fast pass to ride Everest again. Dad found a bench and rested. After this we did the Safari and then had supper with Papa and Kari's family at Yak & Yeti. After supper we wandered out of the park, the kids traded pins and then checked out the souvenir shop before we headed back to the buses and waited to go back to our hotel. Henry walked out with a pin he wanted to show to mom and we had to quickly bring it back into the store. We got back to our room and went to the pool with the Kari's family and Norah and Greta. It was another big day.

I accidentally knocked Henry with my water bottle right before we got our picture taken.

 Exit photo went much better.
Waiting for a bus when you are tired is never easy.

Friday 1/3/20 Magic Kingdom
Wow, this week has flown by so fast!  We got up around 6am and had breakfast at the room. We took the bus to MK for our last park day. The bus was super hot and crowded.  Dad did not feel well. We got some pictures taken with all 15 of us and some with Papa and the grandkids and Papa and the moms on Main Street in front of the castle.  Dad got Starbucks and most of the group went to Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. Stella went with Lindsey's family to Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Kari's family and Leila went to the Carousel of Progress while Henry and mom did the People Mover. Then dad and Henry did the people mover. Dad was feeling motion sick so he didn’t do any more rides. Mom and Leila, Henry, and Paige did Goofy’s Barnstormer a few times because the line was short. Then the whole family met up again to do Seven Dwarfs.  Our family went back to Pinocchio’s Tavern for lunch. Then Henry went with Kari and Lindsey to Space Mountain and Mom, Stella, Leila, and Paige did Teacups. After these rides we went back to the hotel with Kari, Paige, and Zoe.  Dad went for a run and the rest of us went back to the big pool.  It was nice to relax for a bit by the pool.  Mom went back early to start packing up our stuff.  Then the whole family went to the Turf Club resort restaurant for our last Disney meal.  It was good.  Dad, Stella, and Henry went back to Disney Springs to get some more candy from Goofy’s Candy Co. Mom and Leila missed the bus to MK so they decided to go to HS instead, but once they got there, Leila decided she did want to go to MK after all, so we waited for a bus to MK and met up with her friend Ava and her mom Jenn.  We talked for a bit and got our pictures taken together then went to Mickey’s Philharmagic by ourselves.  Leila and mom had not gotten souvenirs yet so we quick stopped at the store by the dumbo ride and Leila chose a bracelet and mom got a puzzle.  Then we stopped three times on the way out of the park to have our pictures taken.  We got back to the hotel at about 11:30pm.  It was another busy day!

Saturday 1/4/20 Fly Home/Henry’s Birthday!
We got up at about 6:15am, had breakfast and finished packing up.  We met everyone at the lobby and met our transport van to bring us to the airport.  While on our way to the airport, we found out that our flight was delayed by 1 hour.  We got to the airport and Ryan left his phone in the van, but we were able to call and get it back before we left.  We checked our bags and went through security.  Then we staked out some seats and got some lunch.  Right after we got our food, the power went out.  It came back on quickly so nothing got affected by the outage.  We boarded the plane around 1pm and we told the staff that it was Henry's birthday and they announced his birthday to the whole plane and he got a wings pin (that he wore for the next week) and an extra snack pack.  We landed around 3:35pm.  Praise God for a safe trip home and an awesome vacation!
